The Hemp Works is a CBD dispensary that opened in the summer of 2021 in the 2nd Ward of Houston, Texas. The Hemp Works is housed within The Plant, a renovated, mixed use former industrial building reimagined with local and creative retail including a cafe, a bar, a juice shop and popsicle shop. The design emphasizes existing industrial details including exposed steel columns and structure painted black, black light pendants, polished concrete floors, and exposed spiral ducting. The central consultation counter recalls elements of an old-style pharmacy, including an apothecary cabinet with multiple small drawers for CBD products. The front retail space, including CBD products and bath-related CBD infused products toward the center and side shelves, is separated off from a back office and storage area with pocket doors and a full-height glass partition.
